Our research team view this as good and bad – good because people are speaking up about issues of poor indoor acoustics and bad in that the knowledge is lacking for appropriate decisions to be made in terms of the products specified.

So in that vain welcome to the sound concepts platform, here you will find basic acoustics 101 with links to research papers for more in depth information if you so choose to go there. You can use the application we developed using Sabine Theory and formula that visualises, tests, and outputs acoustic information to support you to make informed decisions.

Confused or didn’t quite understand the first time it was explained what RT means to classrooms or workspace quality, or the difference between and dB’s, or how NRC’s are used to find the MRSAC, then this site can help.

From novice through to intermediate skill and knowledge of acoustics you will find instruction at your level, with the view to improving and transitioning everyone’s understanding of acoustics and therefore improve the spaces you work, design, live and play in.

It’s not meant to be scary, but there are many factors in the matrix to get your head around when designing new, retrofitting existing, or selecting product to produce better acoustic spaces.

final note: this site should not be used to replace the great work acousticians do – who are physics experts concerned with the properties of sound – but as a resource to up skill you to work with them when needed.
